Surfing…in Wyoming? Well it’s not exactly Teahupoo, but us landlocked beggars can’t be choosers. Ever year, for a magical few weeks Lunch Counter on the Snake River comes in. The magical flow allows for some casual shredding on the first wave of Lunch Counter. The last couple weeks saw the right flow, but now the river has come up and it will likely be out for the foreseeable future. Surfing Lunch Counter is not for the faint of heart though, particularly in May with water temps in the 40s. Not to mention the mandatory swim after you fall off/miss the wave. Frigid water and fear notwithstanding, it’s a pretty awesome way to spend an afternoon.
