Rumor has it April in Tahoe can be better than winter in most places…so long as you ignore the fact things are baked within two hours of the sun popping. Already the snowfall totals have far exceeded those of January and February, and we’re only halfway through!
The Weekend Wrap-up
Thursday:
- Sleeper pow day
- Full on winter conditions
Friday:
- Bluebird pow day
- Finally not on a Saturday
- Empty squaw
Saturday:
- Sunshine and smiles all around for TRAINS
- Chimney opens at 2 o’clock…
Sunday:
- More sun and more smiles
- Chimney open once again, but the lone taker bounces an impressive 60 feet on landing, cartwheels ensue
- Temperatures scheduled to skyrocket
This time of year the transition from “winter” to “summer” is fast and harsh, so get out there while the gettin’ is good! The above red coats (and not patrol), were dumbfounded by the magnitude of the winter portion of Tahoe’s Apruary.
Looking at the week ahead, things are scheduled to be less than favorable with a startling lack of freezing temperatures (overnight lows are scheduled to sit in low 40s!). Time to bring out the park skis!
