Skiing Squaw can go from Winter to Summer in about no time at all, and that's exactly what happened this past week. Deep pow, big smiles, and corn snow were all to be had. Rumor Has It…Winter Is Over | Squaw Weekend Wrap Up | Winter Pow to Summer Sun In 48 Hours | Unofficial Networks

Rumor Has It...Winter Is Over | Squaw Weekend Wrap Up | Winter Pow to Summer Sun In 48 Hours

Rumor has it April in Tahoe can be better than winter in most places…so long as you ignore the fact things are baked within two hours of the sun popping.  Already the snowfall totals have far exceeded those of January and February, and we’re only halfway through!

The Weekend Wrap-up

Thursday:

  • Sleeper pow day
  • Full on winter conditions

Friday:

  • Bluebird pow day
  • Finally not on a Saturday
  • Empty squaw

Saturday:

  • Sunshine and smiles all around for TRAINS
  • Chimney opens at 2 o’clock…

Sunday:

  • More sun and more smiles
  • Chimney open once again, but the lone taker bounces an impressive 60 feet on landing, cartwheels ensue
  • Temperatures scheduled to skyrocket
This were so deep at times entire skis were lost!

This time of year the transition from “winter” to “summer” is fast and harsh, so get out there while the gettin’ is good!  The above red coats (and not patrol), were dumbfounded by the magnitude of the winter portion of Tahoe’s Apruary.
