If you’re a snow freak, this should be freaking you out right about now.
The 2011/12 ski season is almost over. In many places throughout the West, we aren’t keenly aware of how close the end is. In Tahoe, winter finally arrived about a month ago and the skiing is better now than it’s been most of the year.
I know, I know. Many of the hardcore backcountry monsters will still be hiking and skiing for another month or more. For the majority of us; when the lifts close our season ends. This year, our season is ending a month or so earlier than usual. Squaw used to stay open through Memorial Day. Not this year.
All of the Tahoe ski resorts will be closing this month (Tahoe ski resort closing dates). Which means that we’ve only got two more weeks to ski. That’s right, there are only two weeks left to come up and rip Tahoe.

The snow is going to be leaving us fast. Right now, we are looking at highs in the 60s most of the week in Tahoe:
TRUCKEE - 4/14-4/23 PTCLDY PTCLDY PTCLDY PTCLDY SUNNY PTCLDY PTCLDY 28/60 31/61 31/62 31/68 32/69 31/66 29/62 10/00 10/10 00/00 00/10 10/10 10/10 10/10
70F by this weekend is pretty hot for Tahoe, even this time of year. This kind of heat on our small snowpack is going to change things fast. This weekend will be fun in the sun & snow. The final weekend of operation will be fun in the High Camp pool & hot tub.

So, after hearing all of this (70F temps in Tahoe, hot tubs, & only 2 weeks of ski season left) how are you feeling?
Freaked Out?
Satisfied?
Glad It’s Over?
Ready for Summer?
Depressed?
Let us know. We are trying to figure out how to feel as well.
There is always summer skiing in South America…
