These guys are NUTZ!
Tafheet (تفحيط), or Hajwalah (هجولة) drifting, otherwise known as Arab or Saudi drifting is a motorsport phenomenon in the Middle East. Drifters slide around wildly at high speeds often close to traffic, barriers, and pedestrians or spectators. In other words, doing a whole lot of really wreckless S#%t in a car. The cars are usually rentals and that’s why they are most often stock vehicles.
Saudi drifters don’t generally try to make corners with the power slides. Instead they wash around on flat, *open*, straight sections of highway.
Some of the more popular tafheet techniques include:
- “Ta’geed”: turning the car a full 360 degrees
- “Tanteel”: which is to wiggle the rear wheels left and right at high speed.
Some popular phrases sung while performing these techniques are:
- يعيش يموت بسرعة التائهين العربية الشابة القيام بذلك بشكل جيد which translates roughly as “Live fast die young Saudi drifters do it well” or
- سلسلة لي يضرب صدري عندما أضع رأسي من خلال الزجاج الأمامي which means “My chain hits my chest when I slam my face through the dashboard.”
