You’ll never guess…The rain last night and this morning made the snow really bad.  The “fresh” stuff left the most painful memories.  It felt like it was trying to rip your knees off.  I like to call this “ACL Snow” because it is doing everything it can to try to modify that ACL of yours into a dual commodity. 

The snow was very sticky all over the mountain.  Only where the snow had been skied up did your knees stand a chance.

The only “less dull” spot was Chute 75 on KT-22.  It was steep and smooth enough on the top to allow some speed and some fun turns. Down low, tho, it was sticky and bumpy and wierd.  The cat track was a smidge slow, as you can imagine.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

– Staying home is better for your skiing than actually skiing today

SQUAW CONDITIONS TODAY:

– 38F at High Camp (8,200 ft) at 1pm

– 48F at the base (6,200 ft) at 1pm

– High today of 53F

– Mostly cloudy

– Granite was crazy sticky, especially the fresh stuff

– Chute 75 on KT was “ok”

THE FORECAST:

The forecast looks good.  Funky and rainy tomorrow turning into snow and pow and smiles.  Let’s all just hold on for a coupla days.

This Afternoon: Partly sunny, with a high near 53. Breezy, with a southwest wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of rain after 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 39. Very windy, with a southwest wind 25 to 30 mph increasing to between 40 and 45 mph. Winds could gust as high as 65 mph.

Saturday: Rain before 11am, then snow. High near 40. Very windy, with a southwest wind between 40 and 50 mph, with gusts as high as 70 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.

Saturday Night: Snow showers. Low around 17. Windy, with a west wind 30 to 35 mph decreasing to between 15 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 37. North wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 18.
