Karl sending it on East Face

There seems to be more days that the ski area is closed because of wind than powder days so far this year. Last Friday the lifts were once again not spinning due to wind. The last 5 days, if not the entire season, has felt like spring here in the Yampa Valley. With high temperatures in the 40’s! It does not feel like the first week of February at all. Better lather up that sunscreen and be prepared for the best goggle tan of your life!

Endless Gully in the upper Canyon

Yesterday I was bored and decided to check out the side country. There was a slight avalanche danger but I was feeling confident with the danger and the conditions. Above is Karl launching off a rock in Endless Gully. The side country off Steamboat has about 3 feet of sugar snow on rocks. The traverse out is an adventure as well. Not really worth it if you ask me. So be careful and wise out there!
