Jeb Corliss left leg

Here is the latest Jeb Corliss (best wingsuit flyer in the world) photo.  Details about his injuries have been nebulous.  Reports say that he broke both of his legs and injured his neck.

From the picture shown above we can tell that he certainly broke both his left tibia and fibula and that it was a severely compound fracture (bone sticking out of skin) which is why Jeb is missing all that skin (jagged bone was once jutting out of that hole).  We can also tell that Jeb had surgery to repair that left leg break and that a rod was put into his tibia to repair the leg.

“They are trying to cover up the bone so they can put a skin graft on it 🙂 All I can really say is ouch 🙂 Good thing I don’t use pain killers, lets me experience all the glorious pain :)” – Jeb’s FB page

Ah, Jeb doesn’t use pain killers…the guy is busting out extremely extreme maneuvers even from his hospital cot.  Cool.

THE INJURY STORY/VIDEO:

Jeb injured himself on Jan. 16th when he hit Table Mountain at 10o+ mph in South Africa while proximity wingsuit flying.  Check out the video of Jeb hitting a rock at 100+ mph:

BASE jumping at Table Mountain National Park in South Africa is illegal and Jeb is currently facing fines and possibly criminal charges.

“The danger associated with base jumping does not allow us to issue permits. He did not have permission. We will definitely fine him and possibly press charges.” – Merle Collins, table mountain national park spokeswoman

Jeb is 35 years old and was filming for an HBO special at the time of the crash.  The fine he faces is likely going to be a large sum.  We are confident that the Table Mountain National Park will not press any charges.  Their threat to press charges is just for the press and to discourage future BASE jumps in the park.

“We will take action against Corliss by issuing him with a fine and possibly laying a charge against him.” – Merle Collins.

Jeb, you are a verified badass.  Get well soon and get back up there flying.  We all love to see your stunts.
