Here is the promotional video released today by GoPro for the new HD HERO2.  Don’t worry, it’s not all POV. Actually, I’de say the shots on this reel look pretty sharp. Crisp images with good color saturation. The HD HERO2 is being promoted as 2x more powerful in every way. Some of the new features sound pretty useful.

New glass lens with sharper image quality and more field of view (FOV) options

  • 170 deg | 127 deg | 90 deg

Wider range of camera speed settings

  • 120 fps | 60 fps | 48 fps | 30 fps

Same selection of resolution settings

  • 1080p | 960P | 720P | WVGA

The camera is sporting a new 11 megapixel image sensor vs. the 5 megapixel sensor of the old camera as well as faster information processing capacity.

Time lapse and still photo burst modes are also available with the new model. Up to 10 images per second photo bursts at 11 megapixels.

The monochromatic display has been changed around some as well. If the camera is set to shoot in 1080P at 30 fps the display will read 1080-30 as opposed to a code like R5 that was not intuitive on the previous model. There are also improved features to help you tell when the camera is recording.
