Editors note:Drew Tabke is the 2011 Freeskiing World Tour Champion and a part time resident of Farellones, Chile. Termas de Chillan is south of Santiago and sees far less traffic than the majority of Santiago area resorts. Termas generally catches more southerly storms, and the area is generally favored on La Nina years. Drew was lucky to catch the zone after one of the bigger storms of the season.

Skiing Nevados de Huemul outside of Las Trancas, the base village for Termas de Chillán. This area has a huge snowpack this year and another storm hit last weekend so a couple friends and I left our base of Farellones to go down for a few days of skiing. As is typical of any visit to Chillán, we found awesome terrain, snow, hospitality, food, and hot springs. As the local saying goes, “¿porque tan bueno?”
