As usual during during BBQ season there are many things to do in the SLC. You could go for a bike ride, go climbing, take a hike, so some camping, take a road trip…. the possibilities are endless. If you are looking for free music and a good social scene you can find it too. Here is What the Hell to Do in SLC this Week:

Weds. August 3rdThe Patwa Reggae Band @ Deer Valley @ 6:00pm-8:00pm Cost: Free

Reggae in the mountains seems like a good Wednesday night. Picnics and dancing are encouraged, animals are not permitted. Deer Valley’s food and beverage concessions stand will be open during the concert.

Thurs. August 4thThurson Moore & Kurt Vile and the Violators @ Pioneer Park @ 7:00pm – Cost: Free!!!

Thurston Moore is the lead singer from everyones favorite band Sonic Youth. I am not actually a fan of SY, but Thurston on his own seems to be a bit better. How often does that happen? Come see the free music and drink the overpriced beers.

Fri. August 5thDubwise @ The Urban Lounge @ 9:00pm Cost: Not Free

Not really my bag, but I am thinking that the younger mountain folk dig on the Dubwise. The Urban is a good place for hipster sightings, like every 2.56 seconds. Get you dance on and enjoy!

Sat. August 6thThe Infamous Stringdusters @ Canyons @ 6:00pm – Cost: Free!!!

If you dig on listening to string band players with some serious skills check out this video then go to Canyons on Saturday. Don’t forget your low backed chair!

Sat. August 6th Marshall Crenshaw @ Snowbird @ 6:00pm – Cost: Free

Snowbird is rocking free music on the deck as part of the Cool Air Concert Series. Bring your coolers and your dancing shoes. That is right BYOB to Snowbird. What a good idea!
