Last Friday, Freeskiing World Tour Athletes received an email from the tour announcing that the second stop of the 2012 FWT would not be taking place in Valle Nevado, Chile, as previously announced. Specific reasons for Valle Nevado’s decision were not given. The resort had previously expressed enthusiasm about the event in a July 7th press release. The release read:

“Valle Nevado is thrilled to host the 2012 Subaru Freeskiing World Tour in Chile,” said Kristina Schreck, North American representative for Valle Nevado. “It’s going to be very exciting to watch the best freeskiers in the world take on Tambo, our out-of-bounds, extreme terrain that we’ve specially designated as the venue for this awesome event.”

Apparently, the thrill and excitement died off pretty quickly. With less than a month until the scheduled contests, a new venue will hopefully be announced next week.
