Snow sports are still your best option for outdoor activities around Tahoe. With that in mind Chris Wolfenden and I headed up to Mt. Rose to partake in some snowmobiling (a.k.a. sledding). Pulling off the highway we were pleased to see a thick blanket of snow extending all the way down to the road. It was around 2:30pm and the spring snow-pack had turned into a manky mess. Skiing this stuff would have been a challenge but our fuel guzzling snow machines ripped through it with the greatest of ease.

It’s hard to believe how much snow is still in the higher elevations around Tahoe.  If you did not know any better you would swear it was mid February.
