The 2011 Telluride Mountainfilm Festival is coming up at the end of May over Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-30. Unofficial Telluride will be highlighting the films in the festival as they are announced over the coming weeks.

COLD is a new short film from Anson Fogel, Cory Richards, and Forge Motion Pictures. The film was shot on a Canon 5D by Cory Richards as he, Simone Moro, and Denis Urubko’s summited Pakistan’s 26,360-foot Gasherbrum II in February, a feat that nearly killed them. “It’s so raw and honest,” says Fogel. “I couldn’t believe he had the camera out in those conditions.” The group was the first to summit an 8,000 meter peak in Pakistan in the winter, with Cory becoming the first American to ever summit ANY 8,000 meter peak in the winter. The film recently won the award for Best Adventure Film at Carbondale, Colorado’s 5 Point Film Festival and I personally can’t wait to see it.
