squaw valley deck

squaw valley deckMy deck this afternoon.  This deck was dry last night.

Forgive me guys and gals.  I didn’t get any good videos nor photos today.  So this is what I’m working with.

Here are the basics of today, as I saw them:

KT-22: I was 3rd chair on KT this am and I went straight to the Olympic Lady Downhill and it was dust on crust.  Couldn’t and didn’t wanna go fast nor rip hard.  On my 2nd and 3rd laps on KT I found deeper snow and lower angled stuff in the East Face gully and I hit the remorseless frozen bottom a bit less.  These were pretty fun laps.

Headwall: I skied Headwall Face twice and there was no light at all, no visibility.  It was pure ice until that first tower that is on the face, then there were 4 epic turns, then more of the frightening “what is going to happen next, pow or ice” turns until the low angled trees below that were super fun.

Granite: I didn’t hit bottom at all on the top section.  The top got chopped up quick, tho.  Then the lower half was back to the crap shoot.  Some good turns, some death turns on ice hummocks.

Silverado: Similar to Granite.  Good low angle pow up top, then ice bumps/powder/a little pow on ice on the lower section.

Overall: I was skiing slow and not trusting the snow at all today.  Oh, and it was freezing out today!!  Coldest I’ve felt all season.

The rad thing about today was that there were NO PEOPLE OUT WHATSOEVER. Which was nice.  Which was very, very nice.

Let me know what your guys’ experience was.  And, lets see any pics or vids yous gots.
