Causwell Format Ski Pants – Gear Review

Causwell is a local Salt Lake company with some serious steeze. I have seen their dope gear on skiers like Oakely White-Allan, Vanessa Aadland and Kalen Thorien for the last season or two and thought “that stuff looks pretty damn good.” Well I went to the store on Ft. Union and bought a pair of the Formats last week when they were on super sale. Not sure if this sale is still going on but I got them for $90. They usually go for $230. Check out there website.

The Format Pant comes in a number of different color ways from this cool looking yellow to a pretty horrific muti colored explosion. They also have tame colors like Spice and Purple. I went with Spice.

As for performance I am really digging the waterproofness and the light weight insulation has been perfect for spring days. The inside ankle area is already showing signs of being cut up by my edges, but that is probably my fault for keeping my feet too close together. One feature I am really liking is the suspenders. I have not had them since I was a kid and they are so rad. No more pulling up my pants 50 times a day. So nice!

My only complaint is that the inner lining around the ankle cuff smells like rotten tuna. How is this possible? I have not idea, but I swear it is true. Hopefully that will go away soon. This pant is a really great value and looks sharp.
