Perfect Snow at Squaw Today and NO ONE OUT!
The highlight of today?  Definitely when a F-18 Hornet ripped between Emigrant and Granite Chief Peaks while darting through clouds at about 250 mph.  The sound scared the hell out of us and seeing him so close to the ground (highly illegal) was simply shock and awe.  The whole experience makes you happy to be an American and not someone that America is pissed at.

Other than than that the skiing was…meeehhhhh…WONDEROUS.  Even more importantly, there were no lines  We got our mountain back today and it was an enormous relief.  After the nonsensical mob-mentality debauchery of the ski/skate week storms, we were all sick of sharing our beloved mountain with the harrowing masses.  Today it was ours, all ours.  Today, you could roll up to KT at 8:45am and still get a fresh line down the Fingers.  Headwall opened right away and there was NO ONE on it.  There were no make-or-break decisions today.  You just skied where you wanted to ski and then moved on.  Everyone won the Squaw game.  Granite opened relatively early and was titillating.  But, there actually was a line there for a couple laps.

How was the snow?  The snow was perfect; wind pressed, heavierish, fast as hell, responsive as balls (wtf?), and you never hit bottom.  The only catch with this snow is that once it’s skied, it sets up hard.  By tomorrow morning, anything that has been skied will be brutally hard.  It’s gonna be a scorcher tomorrow (high of 48F), tho, so maybe it’ll soften up in the afternoon.

What didn’t open today?  Granite Chief Peak, The Palisades, Silverado, and Mainline Pocket (at least I don’t think it did).

Silverado is gonna pop first thing tomorrow morning along with all the rest of it.  Should be an interesting decision filled am.
