As I posted earlier this week, today was the US Snowboardcross World Cup finals for both the Men and Women. This was a great event to watch, with the best riders from around the world going head to head on an amazing course on Misty Maiden! Some of the top names were 2X Olympic SBX Champion Seth Wescott,
World Cup Champion and 6 Time X Games Gold Medalist Nate Holland, 9x X Games Champion and snowboarding bad-ass Shaun Palmer, 2002 Olympic Halfpipe Champion and snowboard legend Ross Powers, and 6x X Games Gold Medalist Lindsey Jacobelis. And this was just the US team! The conditions went from blue-bird to flurries during the comp and was really an amazing event to watch! Enjoy some photos I took at the event.
Lindsey Jacobellis airing into the finishing area during one of her heats. She ended up finishing 5th overall.
World Cup riders coming through the first turn of the Telluride Snowboardcross course. This was one of the Men’s heats early on.
During the same heat, riders launching into the lower section of the course. This was a cool view of the course!
Lindsey Jacobellis coming out of the top roller section in second position. This was probably the closest you could get to the action.
Riders airing over one of the lower features of the course. This shot was taken from chair 4, which was an awesome vantage point!
“Unofficial” International Gambling Ring. We were making some bets with some Eastern Euros and Italians, we unfortunately lost a few bucks!
Rider’s airing into the finish area in the super close Men’s final. Seth Wescott is at the far left, narrowly in the lead at this point.
Photo finish at the line after a super close final. Seth Wescott ended up finishing in 2nd after leading the whole race!
