Cypress mountain in Vancouver, BC

As Miles mentioned in his article Where the F@$k are the Girls? picking up girls in a ski town sucks. Why not meet a girl in the city of Vancouver (one of the most cosmopolitan cities in North America with plethora of local and international women). Tell them you can ski (all girls like professional skiers). And then, that same night, show them you can ski, take them to Cypress Mountain.

Cypress Mountain, Awesome!

Twenty minutes from Downtown Vancouver is Cypress Mountain a diamond in the rough.  I have been to Cypress Mountain numerous times and I have never been let down. No matter if I am there to ski the backcountry or to go night skiing I have always been impressed.

The backcountry on Cypress Mountain is very impressive and technical. There are lines and drops if you fancy, or spaced trees to navigate through. Also it is a great feeling when it is raining in Vancouver, (and come-on it always rains in Vancouver) because you know it is pow’ing on Cypress.

Night skiing on Cypress is super fun because you are often alone on the runs, and when there is thick fog it makes for an exciting, eire, sleepy hallow feel (really fun). As well, the top of the mountain has the best views of the city (compared to other local mountains). From the top of Cypress you have a 360 degree view of feel good eye ball pleasing, retina stimulating awesome sights! Looking right you view all of Vancouver. You can see Downtown, and UBC, the East side and Burnaby, even Mount Baker. And to the left you look over the Howe Sound. Honestly one of the most beautiful views in the area. Behind you are the Lions.

Editors note: this view is also a good way to get in a girls…. umm win a girls heart.

1. You show her you can ski.

2. Ride the Sky Chair (a double chair) to the top of Cypress.

3. Provide her with the stunning view (at night the whole Frasier Valley is lit up).

4. Let your imagination take over.

Bottom line Cypress is a great place for the family as well as the professional skier. And don’t forget Cypress is perfect place  for a date.
