The next wave of precipitation is expected Friday morning through Friday afternoon. The southern boundary of this wave may sag a little closer to Tahoe, so we could see some showers, especially in the afternoon. Snow levels will be above 10,000 feet, so nothing to worry about there. Winds will be high again, especially later in the day.
The region will begin to dry out Saturday and Sunday, with some continued cloudiness but temperatures warming gradually by the end of the weekend. We should be into the 70s in the Sierra by Sunday or Monday at the latest. Monday and Tuesday will be warmer as a ridge of high pressure takes hold on the west.
The mid-range forecast shows another cold front headed our way by the middle of next week. But it is too soon to say whether that system will remain on track or be pushed to our north into Oregon as it moves east.
