ICELAND – Professional Japanese ski jumper Ryoyu Kobayashi set a new world record for the longest ski jump ever at 291 meters. The jump, done with support from Red Bull and Prada, was accomplished near the Icelandic resort Hlíðarfjall.

According to Icelandic News Service RUV, Kobayashi attempts began yesterday, April 23. Rumors stated that the skier was not just attempting to break the record, but also attempting to sail an astonishing 300 meters through the air, something that appears to have not happened.

291 meters (~955 feet) is absolutely incredible nonetheless. To be clear, that’s over two and a half football fields in length. Just mind boggling.
