According to the Jackson Hole News & Guide, a skier lost his loaded 9mm handgun in a crash on Monday at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

The firearm was found in Dick’s Ditch by two off-duty resort employees. The employees brought the gun down to security who reunited the weapon with the owner who had reported it missing.

Because no law or resort rule was broken, the man was returned his gun without any questioning other than a serial number check to see if the weapon was wanted.

Jon Bishop, who manages risk and safety programs for the resort, told Jackson Hole News & Guide that, “though the incident was alarming, Bishop said the Second Amendment and Wyoming law make it unlikely that the resort can ban firearms.”
