A tour around Squaw Valley last week revealed some big changes to the base area.
Yes, the original 1960 Olympic Rings that greet you as you gallantly approach the formidable challenge of KT-22 are…gone. Kinda sad. We are hoping they’ll be put up somewhere else cool.
Squaw Construction Highlights:
– Downstairs of Olympic House is completely gutted
– New Wildflour bakery is going to be where it used to be but much much bigger, wall to wall it appears
– Old ticket windows are gone, lawn and brick and open air in their place
– New ticket windows where old light board sign used to be
– New space age looking ticket office building next to new ticket windows
– Pulse lift, Newport lift, Mainline lift all have been removed and placed in the parking lot
– New Paint job for Chamois & all of the Olympic House
The Olympic House’s downstairs section is under major construction currently. I asked some of the workers when the Olympic House would be done:
“Mid-December…at the earliest.” -worker dude
Remember the downstairs of the Olympic House? Ya know, Wildflour, Northern Lights, Snowboard rental shop, the arcade, the sitting area? Gone. All of it. At least for now…
Chamois got a new paint job. The Olympic House, Chamois, the Sport Shop, Special Tickets Office, Plaza Bar, Daves Deli, are now caesar-salad-vomit-green, French’s-Mustard-yellow, and burnt-out-car-rust colored. Really exiting colors….like this one. Fortunately for us, it all matches the Village now.
