Rockstar Energy Open returns to Breckenridge.

Some of the world’s best snowboarders will return to Breckenridge Ski Resort this December for the second edition of the Rockstar Energy Open, a competition designed to give riders more creative freedom than traditional snowboard contests.

The free three-day snowboarding and music festival is scheduled for December 18th through 20th, 2026, bringing professional snowboarders, live music, art installations, and action sports to Breckenridge during the resort’s Ullr Fest celebrations.

Rider Designed Course Brings a Different Format

The 2026 Rockstar Energy Open will feature men’s and women’s divisions competing on a rider-designed ParkStyle course created by Charles Beckinsale and Snowpark Tech. Rather than using a traditional slopestyle, halfpipe or big air format, the course is intended to let snowboarders create their own lines and showcase their individual styles.

Olympic gold medalist and Rockstar Energy athlete Red Gerard is among the riders expected to return for the second edition of the event.

Snowboarders Worldwide Can Qualify

The Rockstar Energy Open will again feature its Video Qualifying Series, giving snowboarders around the world an opportunity to earn a spot in the competition.

Starting October 19th, riders can submit video parts through The Platfrm. A panel of judges will award weekly cash prizes for Best Men’s Part, Best Women’s Part and Best Trick. Fans will also have an opportunity to vote for a Viewer’s Choice Award.

The VQS provides a pathway for emerging snowboarders to reach the Breckenridge competition alongside established professionals.

Free Festival Returns During Ullr Fest

Beyond the competition course, fans can explore a festival village featuring live music, art installations and Rockstar Energy activations. The event is scheduled to coincide with Breckenridge’s annual Ullr Fest, adding the snowboard competition to one of the town’s biggest winter celebrations.

More than 10 hours of livestream coverage are planned through The Platfrm, ProSieben in Europe and Fuel TV. Admission to the event will be free, while VIP packages will be available for fans seeking an upgraded experience.

Additional details about the athlete lineup, music programming and full schedule are expected to be announced in the coming months.
