Skiing and snowboarding often comes with some pretty incredible views, especially at the top of your favorite resort. We took to Facebook to ask our followers which ski resorts have the best view from the top, and over 700 people shared their opinions mentioning destinations across North America and Europe.
After combing through the responses, several ski resorts stood out with quite a few mentions. These five were the most frequently named mountains in the conversation.
Heavenly Mountain Resort
Heavenly Ski Resort was by far the most frequently mentioned it the responses. Sitting over Lake Tahoe, the mountain drew praise for its stunning views of the lake and the surrounding Sierra NEvada.
Several people just named Heavenly, while others highlighted the experience of looking down toward Lake Tahoe from the upper mountain. One commentor summed it up by saying “Heavenly Valley, right down the face, there’s Lake Tahoe. That’s why its called Heavenly.”
Lake Louise
Lake Louise Ski Resort was another clear favorite. The Canadian resort received plenty of repeated mentions for its beautiful views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains and Lake Louise below. One follower called Lake Louise their top choice in North America, while other comments highlighted the resort when discussing the best mountain scenery.
Wildcat Mountain
Wildcat Mountain in New Hampshire was an East Coast favorite, generating an impressive number of responses focused on its view toward Mount Washington and Tuckerman Ravine. The summit on clear days was frequently called one of the best views in skiing and snowboarding.
Zermatt
Zermatt was the most frequently mentioned European destination in the discussion, though plenty others made the list. Several followers mentioned the centerpiece of the Matterhorn as the reason for the resort’s specatular scenery.
Telluride
Telluride also appeared repeatedly, with the Colorado resort earning praise for its dramatic mountain setting and expansive views from the upper mountain. One follower gave Telluride as their top choice in the United States, while another included it alongside Snowmass and Zermatt when discussing standout views.
The responses featured plenty of other contenders, including Homewood, Grand Traghee, Kicking Horse, Crystal Mountain, Alyeska, Big Sky, and Chamonix. There’s no shortage of stunning views in the world of skiing and snowboarding, and that really comes as no surprise. It’s hard not to see something beautiful when you’re standing on top of a mountain.
