The Ikon Pass is heading into the 2026-27 ski season with new destinations, expanded terrain, upgraded lifts and major snowmaking investments across its global network. Alterra Mountain Company announced the additions on September 24th as skiers and snowboarders prepare for a winter that could bring significant changes across more than 70 destinations.
Ikon Pass holders also have until October 8th to lock in current pricing before pass rates increase.
New Ikon Pass Destinations
The 2026-27 season adds several new destinations to the Ikon Pass network. SilverStar Mountain in British Columbia, Snowriver Mountain Resort in Michigan, Lutsen Mountains in Minnesota and Granite Peak in Wisconsin are joining the North American lineup.
The pass is also expanding in Asia with Madarao Mountain Resort in Japan and Beidahu Ski Resort and Lake Songhua Resort in China. Five new bonus mountains are being added as well, including Devil’s Head in Wisconsin, Tamarack in Idaho, Giants Ridge in Minnesota, Caberfae Peaks in Michigan and Snowy Range Ski Area in Wyoming.
Ikon Base Pass holders will also gain unlimited access to Arapahoe Basin in Colorado and five days at Snowmass.
Major Terrain and Lift Upgrades
Several major mountain expansions are scheduled for this winter. Deer Valley Resort will open the new Hail Peak Express lift, adding 200 skiable acres and seven new runs. The expansion will bring Deer Valley to 4,500 skiable acres and 32 chairlifts.
Sun Valley is adding 40 acres of new gladed terrain while expanding its beginner-focused Sunny’s Adventure Park. Lake Louise Ski Resort is also adding new terrain, including Grove Glade and expanded tree skiing.
Lift upgrades are planned across the globe. Aspen Mountain will debut the Nell Bell high-speed quad, while Sun Valley is adding the Lookout Express and Christmas chairlifts. Niseko United is scheduled to open the new Shin Mori-no Gondola, while three new 10-passenger gondolas are planned across Valle D’Aosta in Italy.
Snowmaking Investments Across the Network
Alterra is also highlighting extensive snowmaking improvements ahead of winter. Deer Valley is adding a 10-million-gallon reservoir capable of supporting increased snowmaking capacity, while Solitude, June Mountain, Copper Mountain, Brighton and Sun Valley are among the destinations receiving system upgrades.
Alyeska Resort is replacing 800 feet of snowmaking pipe and adding new high-efficiency equipment. Loon Mountain, Lake Louise and Dolomiti Superski are also making investments designed to improve early-season coverage and consistency.
Ikon Pass Prices Increase Soon
The 2026-27 season will also feature anniversary celebrations at Arapahoe Basin, Aspen Snowmass, Sierra-at-Tahoe and Brighton.
With new destinations and infrastructure improvements arriving across the network, skiers and snowboarders have until October 8th to purchase Ikon Pass products at the current rates before prices increase.
