PORT ANGELES, Wash. — The National Park Service is searching for Neil Gehring, 26, who left the Madison Falls Trailhead in Olympic National Park on August 31st.

According to Gehring’s backcountry permit, he intended to make a cross-country traverse from Boulder Lake to Appleton Pass, returning to the Madison Falls Trailhead on September 1st. He was reported overdue at 6:30 a.m. on September 2nd. Search efforts began immediately after notification.

Age: 26

Height: 5’5”

Weight: 130 lbs.

Hair: Black, short.

Features: Slender build, brown eyes.
