Very cool news out of Utah where Zion National Park is excited to announce the launch of a new all-terrain wheelchair lending program designed to expand trail access for visitors with disabilities, mobility challenges, or injuries. The Extreme Motus Wheelchair requires an assistant to push the chair and it is not able to be powered by the user.Â
If you are interested in using the Extreme Motus wheelchair, go to the Zion Canyon Visitor Center information desk and if the chair is available, a ranger will begin the checkout process. Both user and assistant must fill out a waiver prior to use. The ranger will then go through a brief training and review the chair’s features.
Because the Extreme Motus chair is too long to fit on the Zion Canyon Shuttle, the ranger will also provide you with an accessibility pass to drive and park on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive during shuttle bus season.
Currently there is one Extreme Motus wheelchair available at Zion National Park that is free to use on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations are not being taken at this time.

The Extreme Motus All Terrain Wheelchair
“The Extreme Motus isn’t just a wheelchair. It’s a way to reconnect with nature, enjoy freedom with family and friends, and experience outdoor adventures without limits. It’s more than a outdoor wheelchair; it’s your ticket to freedom. Embrace the outdoors with confidence, knowing our off-road wheelchair is engineered for durability and ease of use.”
Engineered with durable Wheeleez® balloon tires, this chair absorbs bumps naturally and provides smooth travel across any terrain. These ultra-tough tires are trusted for extreme conditions, lasting up to 15+ years without losing performance. Whether it’s a sandy beach or a rocky trail, you can move confidently and comfortably.
The long wheelbase ensures outstanding stability, while the center of gravity positioned over the rear axle makes it easy to balance, turn, and descend hills with control. Independent rear brakes give added safety on slopes and rough ground.
When it’s time to pack up, the chair folds in seconds with just two quick-release pins — no tools required — and fits easily in most vehicles. At just 55 pounds, it’s perfect for family trips, vacations, or everyday adventures.
