New York — Holimont isn’t the typical private ski resort. While it markets itself as “America’s Private Ski Club,” Holimont does actually feature public access. During weekdays, the ski resort is open to the public. On Saturdays and Sundays, they are open exclusively to members and their private guests, offering a more relaxed experience than most ski resorts. Both the public and private members will be pleased to hear about Holimont’s improvements slated for this summer.

Buffalo Business First reported earlier this month that Holimont Resort is spending $750,000 this offseason on various improvements. This will include adding more bike trails and upgrading their snowmaking system.

Summer has become an increased focus for Holimont. Since its introduction in 2021, Holimont’s total business traffic in the summer has increased from 10% to 20%. One of the keys to this success has been the bike park, which has gone from 5 to 25 trails. Work is underway on a new green-rated jump trail. Planned for completion this summer, this will add a new progression route for new and experienced riders. Other plans include improvements to the current trails and features, as well as the addition of more man-made features to the existing network. There are also plans to add adaptive programming during the summertime.

Work is also underway on a big project for next winter. Snowmaking upgrades are underway, with new 12″ and 8″ waterlines being added. New electrical panels and a transformer are also being added for the snowmaking network. These additions will lead them to their snowmaking pipe infrastructure goal, which will allow them to increase their pumping capacity. This will allow Holimont to operate under one pressure for its snowmaking capacity.

About Holimont

Holimont is situated just outside the beautiful village of Ellicottville, New York. Opened back in 1961, Holimont Resort is a private ski resort. With over 3,500 members, it’s the largest private ski club in the country. The ski resort features 56 trails, 8 lifts, and a vertical drop of 700 feet. Holimont does well snow-wise, thanks to 180 inches of annual snowfall plus 100% snowmaking coverage. During summer, there’s a lift-served mountain biking park, disc golf, hiking trails, paddleboarding, and more.
