Brutal mountain bike crash.

Australian mountain bike rider Troy Brosnan had a pretty brutal wipeout while riding at Bikepark Leogang in Austria, running into an abandoned bike on the trail ahead of him and going over his handlebars during practice at the Leogang World Cup. The bike wasn’t just randomly abandoned, and you can just barely see the other rider who wiped out off the side of the trail. Really it all happened far too fast for anyone to stop it.

It’s overall a very unfortunate and unlucky situation, and while maybe it could have been stopped if there were more race marshals on the course, it seems still likely that it wouldn’t have gone down any different.

The good news is that, impressively, Troy is pretty much alright. He explained in an update after the crash that practice had been going well before the crash forced him to sit out the rest of the day. He did go to the hospital, but they checked him out and gave him the all clear.

Then on Friday Troy successfully managed to land 9th place in the qualifying rounds and should be competing Saturday, June 12th, at the UCI Downhill World Cup Final between 12:30pm and 2:05pm local time. You can learn where to stream the race here.
