Boyne Mountain Resort will keep its lifts running through Memorial Day weekend, marking the latest closing date in the resort’s history. The northern Michigan ski area announced it will operate through Monday, May 25th, capping what has become a record-setting season.
Skiing and riding will be available Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 1pm, with Monday serving as the final day of operations. Only Victor Glacier will be open during the final weekend, but conditions there remain surprisingly robust. The snowpack on the glacier currently measures six to seven feet deep, a remarkable figure for late May in the Great Lakes region.
The resort is pairing its historic finale with a community event on Saturday. The Boyne Forever Foundation will host a gathering at Victor Glacier featuring coffee, donuts, and a silent auction. Items up for bid include Shaggy’s skis and Salomon Strive bindings from Boyne Country Sports.. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Foundation.
Weather conditions are expected to be variable across the holiday weekend before improving dramatically for the final day. Saturday will bring early rain showers and overcast skies with a high near 62 degrees and a 40 percent chance of precipitation. Sunday improves, with cloudy skies giving way to partly cloudy conditions in the afternoon and a high of 64 degrees. Monday is forecast to be the standout day of the weekend, with mostly sunny skies and a high around 75 degrees.
Lift operations are limited to Victor Glacier for all three days, with the 9am to 1pm window applying Saturday through Monday. The resort is reminding guests to ski and ride responsibly and to be aware of other guests on the mountain, particularly families and less experienced skiers who may be navigating spring conditions for the first time.
