On Sunday, February 1st, police officers and firefighters in Mantua, Utah, responded to a report of two people who had fallen through the ice while fishing on Mantua Reservoir.

According to the Mantua Fire Department, responders were able to quickly reach the duo using trained ice-rescue techniques, successfully rescuing the duo with a positive outcome.

KJZZ14 reports that bystanders assisted in the rescue. The two people were medical evaluated on the scene and were able to leave on their own. Tape was placed around the area to prevent others from falling through.

“It was reported the male and female who fell through the ice were out ice fishing with friends. The ice began to crack underneath them and that’s when they both simultaneously fell through the ice. This information was provided by witnesses on scene.” – Mantua Police Department.
