It’s not quite ski season in Colorado yet, but opening day could be coming incredibly soon. Arapahoe Basin, Loveland Ski Area, and Keystone Resort are all working hard toward reaching opening day, and an opening announcement could be coming any day now. Arapahoe Basin’s VP of Mountain Operations Louis Skowyra took us behind the scenes at the mountain’s perparation for the season ahead.
As Louis explained, temperatures are cold and the humidity is low, allowing the A Basin snowmaking team to crank out snow with the goal of getting the lifts spinning as soon as possible. Again, there’s no opening day set in stone yet, but an announcement could be coming in the next few weeks.
This year, full Ikon Pass holders get unlimited access to Arapahoe Basin, while Base Pass holders are limited to 5 days. However, ski days from opening day to December 19th, 2025, will not count against the 5 day limit, so make sure you take advantage of unlimited early season skiing if you have the pass to do so.
