Every morning it seems like we’re waking up to more snow on the mountain peaks, and based on mountain weather meteorologist Chris Tomer‘s recent forecast, that won’t be going away any time soon. According to his newest prediction, some mountain tops could see several inches of snow over the next few days.

Chris Tomer Mountain Weather Forecast 9/15:

Snow is currently blanketing the Wind River Range in Wyoming, with Pinedale reporting a significant coating from a recent storm and ongoing snowfall. The Tetons see lighter activity, with storm clouds over Cody Peak and Cody Bowl. A low-pressure system drives precipitation across Wyoming and Montana, with radar showing heavy snow in the Wind Rivers and lighter action in the Big Horns and Yellowstone.

Satellite imagery does reveal moisture over the region, with multiple low-pressure systems and a jet stream dip fueling the weather. Two to three cold fronts will bring snow to high peaks in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and British Columbia over the next 10 days, particularly on September 20–23 and 25–26. Cameron Pass and Berthoud Pass in Colorado expect moisture increases around September 17–18, with up to 4 inches of snow possible by September 30.

The Wind Rivers may see 4–6 inches of snow through Wednesday, with gusty winds and temperatures dropping to the 20s at night. A powerful jet stream on September 22–24 will likely bring more snow to Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado’s northern and central mountains.
