Stowe, Vermont — It’s the heart of New England’s foliage season, which brings many tourists to places like Stowe. The Vermont town is one of the top spots for tourists to visit in the state, which is why events like the Stowe Foliage Arts Festival are held there.
This year, the festival was planned to be held from October 11 to 13, 2024. There was over 150 vendors, live music, and food and drinks. The festival only occurs once a year, so it’s a major chance for local vendors to make lots of money from locals and tourists alike. After a successful first day, the festival was derailed by some wacky weather.
On Saturday at 7:45 a.m., the Stowe Foliage Arts Festival announced that it had canceled the event for the remainder of the weekend. Heavy wind gusts damaged tents and vendors’ products. The Festival plans to refund tickets that were previously acquired on Eventbrite.
The crafters assessed the damage and then helped each other out to clean up the area. Mischu’s Closet, who was a new vendor to this year’s festival, expressed their gratitude on the Festival’s social media page:
“As a first time vendor at this show I am very grateful to everyone who pitched in and helped dig stuff out and load vehicles. And to who ever carried my big owl statue out from under the tent… THANK YOU!!!!”
The Stowe Living store invited vendors impacted by the heavy winds to sell their products at its store.
It hasn’t been announced by the Stowe Foliage Arts Festival yet, but they’ll likely be back in 2025.
