A-Basin is offering a season pass that spans two full seasons for only $499...you also have until New Year’s Eve to purchase. This sounds like a really, really good deal. Here are the specs:

The problem with this pass is that the Epic Local Pass, priced at $509 before September, 3, features unlimited skiing at Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin with limited restrictions at Heavenly, Northstar, and Kirkwood and includes 10 restricted days at Vail or Beaver Creek.
Still. A seasons pass spanning two seasons for only $499 is pretty awesome.

A-Basin is also expanding. The ski area, about 63 miles from Denver, unveiled a long-term development plan featuring lift-served skiing into the steeps know as The Beavers, just outside its operating boundary. The growth plan would add 412 acres of steep big mountain playground terrain and the expansion isn’t to increase the amount of skiers on the mountain. The expansion would only accomodate 360 more skiers daily at A-Basin.
A-Basin’s Alan Henceroth explains that the terrain “already functions like a ski area. It is lift-served out-of-bounds skiing. It’s in the ski area in every way except it’s not. We think what we are proposing is not really a change from what it is now.”
This area of A-Basin has had avalanche trouble in the past with six avalanche related deaths in the past thirty years in “The Beavers.”
“It’s really time we make this part of the ski area and put it in a real, bona fide snow management program,” said Hencerot.
