Vail Resorts is preparing for a busy winter of competitive skiing and snowboarding, with World Cup races, international championships, freestyle competitions, and community events scheduled across its North American and European destinations during the 2026-27 season.
Their full calendar includes major events at Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Park City Mountain, Whistler Blackcomb, and Crans-Montana in Switzerland. Several returning competitions will also feature notable changes, including the return of the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix to Breckenridge after a 12-year absence.
“This winter, we’re packing even more skiing and riding competitions into the calendar, because nothing gets people more fired up than watching incredible athletes show us what’s possible on snow.” – Jody Churich, Senior Vice President of Vail Resorts’ Destination Resorts.
Beaver Creek and Breckenridge Lead Early Season Competition
Beaver Creek will host its biggest Birds of Prey celebration yet from December 2-13. The expanded 11-day event includes seven days of men’s and women’s Audi FIS Ski World Cup racing on the legendary Birds of Prey course. The men’s races run December 3-6, featuring downhill, super-G, and giant slalom events. The women’s downhill and super-G competitions follow December 11-13.
Breckenridge will have two major competitions in December. The Toyota U.S. Grand Prix returns December 10-13, bringing elite freeski and snowboard slopestyle athletes back to the resort for the first time in 12 years. The event also kicks off the Grand Prix’s 30th anniversary winter.
The Rockstar Energy Open follows December 18-20. The free three-day snowboarding and music festival returns for its second year, featuring a rider-designed course, live music, and action sports culture.
Park City and Switzerland Host Major International Events
Park City Mountain will welcome Shaun White’s The Snow League from January 21-23. The competition will take place in the resort’s 22-foot superpipe, bringing together some of the world’s best freeski and snowboard halfpipe athletes.
Meanwhile, Crans-Montana in Switzerland will host the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships from February 1-14. The 14-day competition will bring the world’s top alpine racers to the resort, marking the return of the championships to Crans-Montana 40 years after the 1987 event.
Community Events Continue Through Spring
Vail Resorts is also bringing back several events that give everyday skiers and snowboarders opportunities to participate. Whistler Blackcomb will host its Peak to Valley Race February 26-27, challenging four-person teams on one of the world’s longest giant slalom courses. Keystone and Park City will host Women in Powder March 6-7, while Park City’s inaugural Party at the Pipe is scheduled for March 20.
Breckenridge’s Imperial Challenge returns April 3, combining uphill running or biking with a climb on skis or a splitboard to the Imperial Chair before racers descend the mountain. Whistler Blackcomb will also host its annual World Ski & Snowboard Festival in April, alongside community events including the Oakley Rail Jam and Kokanee Valley Race Series.
