Alberta — While they weren’t the first to offer to skiing and riding in North America for the 2026-27 season, Canada’s ski season is starting earlier than expected.
Yesterday, Lake Louise Ski Resort announced that is opening for the 2026-27 season on Sunday, November 1st. The plan is to operate the Juniper Express and Easy Street lifts, meaning a limited amount of terrain will be available.
It will be the second-earliest opening in the ski resort’s history. Their earliest ever opening was October 29, 2020.
The Other Parts Of The Big 3 Aren’t Far Behind
Meanwhile, the other two ski resorts in Banff are preparing to open. Mount Norquay also announced an early opening yesterday, with their projected opening date moving from November 7th to November 6th.
Banff Sunshine Village’s opening date is still scheduled for November 6th. Based on the other two moves, a moving up of their opening doesn’t seem out of the question.
With Daylights Savings Time no longer in effect in Alberta, the ski lifts at all three will start spinning at 9:30 a.m.
Based on Banff Sunshine Village’s summer ski operations (which concluded on July 5th), there was only a roughly four-month span where there wasn’t lift-served skiing in Alberta and Banff. Not bad!
