The Toyota U.S. Grand Prix is returning to Breckenridge Ski Resort for the first time in 12 years, bringing elite freeski and snowboard slopestyle competition to Colorado from December 10-13. The event will kick off the 2026-27 domestic FIS World Cup season and mark the 30th anniversary winter of the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard and Breckenridge Ski Resort announced the return of the competition, which will feature some of the world’s top freeskiers and snowboarders competing on a purpose-built slopestyle course. Spectators will be welcome throughout the four-day event.

“Twelve years is a long time to be away, and we are proud to kick off the domestic freeski and snowboard World Cup season in Breckenridge. This is one of 13 World Cup events we have in the U.S. this winter and hosting at a resort with this much history sets the tone for the season.” – U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO Sophie Goldschmidt.

Breckenridge’s History With Snowboarding

Breckenridge has played a significant role in the evolution of snowboarding and freestyle skiing. The resort became the first major ski area in Colorado to allow snowboarding in 1984 and has continued supporting the sports through progressive terrain park designs that have helped develop American athletes.

The upcoming Grand Prix also aligns with Breckenridge’s recently launched Kingdom of Breck brand campaign. Charles Beckinsale, one of the world’s most sought-after terrain park builders, will lead construction of the competition course.

“The return of the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix is a proud moment for Breck. This event reflects the progressive spirit and competitive energy that has long been part of The Kingdom’s history and we’re excited to bring it to life this winter.” – Jon Copeland, vice president and chief operating officer of Breckenridge Ski Resort.

Four Days of World Cup Competition

The competition schedule begins Thursday, December 10, with freeski slopestyle qualifying. Snowboard qualifying follows Friday, December 11, before freeski finals take place Saturday, December 12. Snowboard finals will close out the weekend Sunday, December 13.

Breckenridge is one of three Colorado stops on the domestic World Cup calendar. The Toyota U.S. Grand Prix will also visit Copper Mountain December 17-20 and Aspen February 25-28.

The 2026-27 FIS freeski and snowboard World Cup season runs from late November through April, with the FIS Snowboard and Freeski World Championships scheduled for March 6-21 in Montafon, Austria.
