Vermont — We’re inching closer to ski season in the Northeast.

While the weather hasn’t cooperated so far, various ski resorts across the region have fired up their snowguns to prepare for the first true snowmaking window. In Vermont, three of the biggest ski resorts aim to open before Thanksgiving.

Yesterday, Vail Resorts announced that its three Vermont mountains, Mount Snow, Okemo, and Stowe, are projected to open for the 2026-27 season on November 21st. This date depends on weather and snow conditions. The start of the month is unfortunately looking warm across the Northeast, so we’ll see if any mountains end up having delayed starts.

What’s New

Out of the three, the biggest project occurred at Okemo Mountain Resort. This offseason, millions of dollars were spent to modernize its snowmaking network. This means better snowmaking efficiency, more capacity, and ultimately taking better advantage of cold snaps.

Mount Snow is adding a new food offering. The Maple Syrup Flight at Iron Loft will offer waffles and tater tops with Golden, Amber, and Dark maple syrups.

Stowe will be celebrating its 90th anniversary this winter. They plan to celebrate it with various events.

At all three mountains, the My Epic App will improve the Ski & Ride School. Updates include digital check-in, instructor feedback, achievements and badges, and lesson history.
