Skiers looking to bring a piece of Colorado ski history into their homes have a unique opportunity through the Colorado Snowsports Museum’s 2026 Silent Auction. One of the featured items is an original two-person chair from a Loveland Ski Area chairlift which connected Loveland Valley to Loveland Basin and traveled over U.S. Highway 6.

The historic chair is being offered with a Full Treatment Bench Restoration Package from Last Chair Customs, giving the winning bidder the chance to turn a retired piece of ski lift infrastructure into a restored bench. The silent auction ends today, October 10th, so act fast if you’re interested.

A Piece of Loveland Ski Area History

The chair comes from a lift that once linked the two sections of Loveland Ski Area, carrying skiers between Loveland Valley and Loveland Basin. The lift also crossed over U.S. Highway 6, making it a memorable part of the resort’s infrastructure. Rather than simply displaying an old lift chair, the restoration package allows the winning bidder to transform it into a functional piece of furniture.

Last Chair Customs Restoration Package

Last Chair Customs’ Full Treatment Bench Package includes several modifications designed to convert the original chair into a restored bench. The package includes shortening the original top bar, adding legs, sandblasting and powder coating the metal in a standard color, and installing teak wood seating and a backrest. The winning bidder can also choose the number added to the chair.

The finished piece measures 110 inches long, 43 inches wide and 20 inches deep. It weighs approximately 110 pounds, so buyers will need to account for its size and weight when planning where to put it.

How to Bid on the Historic Chair

The Loveland lift chair is part of the Colorado Snowsports Museum’s 2026 Silent Auction, which supports the organization’s efforts to preserve and share Colorado’s rich snowsports heritage.

Bidders interested in owning the chair can visit the 2026 Silent Auction website to view the item and auction details.
