Stored snow at Trollhaugen.

Trollhaugen in Wisconsin has uncovered its stored snow for their annual Open Haugen celebration, returning this Saturday, October 3rd, and Sunday, October 4th, with skiing and snowboarding scheduled from 11am to 4pm on both days.

Trollhaugen has kept a large pile of snow stored from last season under tarps just for this weekend. Unfortunately the snow session has been sold out since September 18th, but any cancellations will be made available on a first come, first served basis through the resort’s registration page. There is no waitlist.

Two Days Of Skiing And Snowboarding

Saturday’s snow sessions are designed as a non-contest experience for skiers and snowboarders ages eight and older. Participants need intermediate terrain park and rope tow experience, with three 90-minute sessions available throughout the day.

The Sunday schedule shifts toward competition. The AM Jam runs from 11am to 1pm for skiers and snowboarders ages 8 to 17, with prizes awarded across several categories. The Pro Jam follows from 1:30 to 3:30pm and is recommended for participants 18 and older. The event includes cash prizes for the top men and women in both skiing and snowboarding.

Each participant is limited to one snow session for the weekend.

Open Haugen Offers More Than Skiing

Open Haugen weekend includes a variety of activities beyond the stored snow. Free admission is offered for the overall event, including free lift rides and hay rides.

The weekend will see a food and coat drive, ski and snowboard swap, vendor village, ski shop sale, bar and grill service, chairlift rides and other activities. Visitors can receive a Troll lift ticket discount coupon by donating two canned or boxed food items, baby diapers or wipes, or a gently used coat.

The annual food drive has collected more than 50,000 pounds of food over the past decade. The resort’s ski and board shop sale runs Friday through Sunday, while the ski and board swap takes place Saturday and Sunday.
