Scavenger hunts are always a lot of fun, but they don’t usually generate as much attention as this one. Professional skateboarding legend Tony Hawk was in Denver on Thursday and he decided to leave a little gift for the people of the city, dropping a used, signed skateboard in La Raza Park for anyone to find. He then posted a video to his Instagram, explaining that it’s a first come, first served situation.
“Denver! I just left my used skateboard at La Raza park. It just stopped raining so nobody was there. Ve a buscarlo, finders keepers.” – Tony Hawk
Unsurprisingly it didn’t take long for the skateboard to be snagged, with Denver resident Joseph Martinez rushing to grab the board. According to 9News, more people showed up in search of the board just a few minutes after Martinez grabbed it, and everyone shared in the excitement of the sweet find.
It’s not exactly clear why Tony Hawk was in Denver on Thursday, but it’s certainly not the first time his made caused a stir in the city. In 2024, for example, he showed up at the Denver Skate Park to ride with the locals and sign some boards while in Colorado for his son’s graduation.
La Raza Park
La Raza Park, located in the city’s northwest neighborhood of Sunnyside, is a 2.9-acre site that features a red-brick rectangular plaza. The center of the park features a raised, pyramid-shaped pavilion. Additionally the area includes a basketball court, playground, and picnic areas.
