World Record Blog Jump

Swiss extreme athlete and world champion trampolinist Robin Steiner enlisted three of his best buddies to provide the necessary downward force to launch him off this Blog Jump set up in a lake in Brunnen, Switzerland and he ended up splashing down with a new world record.

The action went down on August 9th, 2026, and required a 46-foot scaffolding erected on the shores of Lake Lucerne where crowds had gathered to witness the attempt. When the trio impacted the blob and sent Steiner skyward he reached an apex of 92.5 feet while spending a full five second airborne.

The previous record was set in 2012 at a maximum height of 72 feet, so its safe to say Steiner obliterated it with his vertical launch which would have put him eye to eye with a person standing on the roof of a nine story building.

“5 seconds of airtime. This is the closest you can get to skydiving without a parachute…
Still in disbelief over yesterday’s events, I can’t thank all the people that came to support.”
-Robin Steiner

Blob jumping, otherwise known as blobbing, is an outdoor water sport where one person sits at the end of a giant, floating partially inflated rubber tube. Another person or persons jumps from an elevated platform onto the opposite end of the tube, launching the first person high into the air before they plunge into the water. Blobbing has become a favorite among American summer camps, especially after it was featured in the 1995 comedy Heavyweights starring Ben Stiller, and actually originated with military surplus floating fuel tanks. The  first blobbers were the sailors who would jump from ships, onto the blobs, and has since been adopted worldwide as a low-tech and high velocity pastime.
