Got to love this midsummer freeform video post by the Ski Boss himself who started filming on trip to his storage unit with his dog to formally announce that he should be the head coach of the 2030 Team USA big mountain ski team.
The International Olympic Committee recently confirmed the inclusion of freeride skiing and snowboarding for the Alpes 2030 Olympic Winter Games and Tanner Hall thinks he would be the perfect fit for the men’s ski coaching position. Warning his bid for the coaching gig is expletive laced but undeniably heartfelt and authentic T. Hall:
“Let me be the Phil Jackson.” -Tanner Hall
The 42-year-old has legendary resume when it comes to throwing down in the mountains and is quick to point out that he also has unique ability to encourage others to believe in their own potential that is second to none. The video cuts out for a moment but we are pretty confident he was referencing that iconic moment when he urged Henrik Harlaut to throw a “Nose Butter Trip” as he walked up the scaffolding at 2013 X Games Ski Big Air Finals. Words of encouragement hit different when they come from someone like Tanner and they worked to great effect with Henrik.
Team America will no doubt be stacked when it comes to the men’s freeride side with folks like Toby Rafford, Quinn Wolferman, Karl Fostvedt and Colby Stevenson waiting in the ranks but they will need a coach to bring the best out of them and Tanner Hall might just be the man to do it. He is willing to stop swearing, he is willing to put on a suit like David Beckham and he guarantees he won’t just be some nerd with a walkie talkie.
However it shakes out, we love that Tanner is already thinking ahead and is as stoked as we are to see big mountain freeriding on the world stage!
