The National Park Service is currently investigating an incident that occurred on Saturday, June 20th, at Nevada Fall in Yosemite National Park. A National Park Service spokesperson confirmed to Unofficial Networks that the incident involved a 23-year-old male.
“Emergency personnel responded to the incident, which remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.” – NPS spokesperson
Several individuals posted about the incident on social media, with one Reddit user claiming several people were dragged by the current in the top of Nevada Fall. They reported seeing a girl and another individual being carried by river. Someone managed to hand the girl a branch and rescue her, but the other individual went with the current to the fall.
A helicopter apparently arrived on scene around an hour later and crews were searching the water, though it’s unclear if they found anything.
On Sunday, June 21st, another Reddit user reported seeing a Yosemite rescue crew bringing a body bag on a stretcher down the Mist Trail. It’s not clear if the incidents are related. The National Park Service has released no additional information as of Tuesday, June 23rd.
