It may feel like we’re deep into summer, but that doesn’t mean skiing and snowboarding is completely over. In fact, in Alberta, Canada, one ski resort is preparing to reopen their lifts and slopes for those hoping to beat the heat.

Banff Sunshine Village, one of Canada’s most popular ski resorts, is set to reopen this Saturday, June 20th, for 16 days of true summer skiing and riding through July 5th. Currently they plan on opening the Strawberry Express and Standish Express chairlifts for all 16 days, as conditions permit. More information on the exact terrain that will be open will be released leading up to their reopening.

Those looking for some grub in the area can head to the Sunshine Mountain Lodge and the Chimney Corner restaurant, both of which are set to open on June 19th. The ski school, rentals, and day care will be closed during the summer skiing. Several ski and snowboard stores around Banff and Calgary are available for rentals. Banff Sunshine Village provides a full list of what’s open here.

Those with a 2026/27 Sunshine Season Pass, SkiBig3 Season Pass, Rocky Mountain Passport, or any guests staying at Banff’s only ski in, ski out hotel, Sunshine Mountain Lodge, will get access to the slopes for free throughout the 15 days. 2026/27 midweek pass holders can ski or snowboard Monday to Thursday, while those with a 2025/26 Sunshine Season Pass, SkiBig3 pass, or Rocky Mountain Passport will receive a 50% discount on tickets.

IKON and Mountain Collective pass holders will be able to take advantage of their own discounts, with both 2025/26 and 2026/27 holders getting 50% off. Window rate tickets are currently available for $80 for adults, $50 for youth and seniors, and $30 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and under can ski for free.

Again, Banff reopens this Saturday, with the Strawberry Chairlift spinning from 8am to 4:30pm. Don’t miss out on these incredible bonus days.
