Largest Canadian flag ever made displayed at Grouse Mountain

The folks at Grouse Mountain Resort in Vancouver are getting fired up for the upcoming FIFA World Cup coming this summer and have debuted the largest Canadian flag ever produced turning the slopes into a symbol of national pride.

The new flag will be hard to miss for international soccer fans in town for one of Vancouver’s seven World Cup games to be played at BC Place, a multi-purpose stadium in Vancouver. The 525 feet by 262 feet flag weighing approximately 3,000 pounds, roughly the size of two soccer fields, took 70 people to unfurl.

While not yet officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, adjudication is underway and its is only a matter of time.

The gigantic flag is visible from across metro area and will be a visual welcome for incoming fights into Vancouver. Grouse expects it become one of the most photographed and shared images of the summer, serving as both a symbol of Canadian identity and a beacon for visitors exploring Vancouver and Grouse Mountain during a globally significant season.
