IDAHO — Excellent combined effort between Custer County Search and Rescue, the Idaho National Guard and the Life Flight Network to save a hiker injured in an avalanche on a mountain in Idaho.

On May 10th around At 2:43 pm Custer County Dispatch was notified of an injured hiker near Mount Borah. The individual had been caught in an avalanche and had sustained multiple injuries. Custer County Search and Rescue was dispatched.

Idaho National Guard helicopter TALON96 out of Gowen field preformed a hoist rescue operation. TALON96 was able to extract him and bring him down to the awaiting Mackay Ambulance for immediate medical assessment. Life Flight Network transported him to the hospital.
