There are plenty of seriously intimidating hikes throughout the United States, whether it’s because they’re remarkably steep, long, or sit on narrow ledges. Plenty of routes could make the climb of being the scariest in the U.S., but none are quite as well known and iconic as Angels Landing in Zion National Park. German vlogger and influencer
Marlene Vey took on the intimidating hike while visiting the U.S., documenting her experience along the way.

Angels Landing is considered a strenuous hike, and those hoping to make their way along the route do need a permit to do so. If you do get your hands on a permit, you’ll need to prepare for a 5.4-mile round-trip hike 1,488 feet in elevation gain. For most people, the route takes about 4 hours to complete. If you can’t get a permit, you can hike about 2.25 mi from the Grotto (Shuttle Stop #6) to Scout Lookout on the West Rim Trail.

Angels Landing does have a tragic history of accidents and deaths, including one that sadly occurred earlier this month on Friday, April 17th. If you’re going to hike the route, make sure you’re thoroughly prepared before doing so.
