Killington Resort is launching a new spring competition on May 16th set to find the most diehard skier or rider in the East. The Superstar Showdown Vert Competition, developed in partnership with the Jim & Mads Show, will ask competitions to log more vertical feet than everyone else on the mountain.
From 8:00pm to 4:30pm competitors will ride the Superstar Six as many times as possible, tracking their progress through the free Killington app. Whoever accumulates the most vert by the end of the day claims the Superstar Showdown Champion title.
The Men’s Overall and Women’s Overall winners will each receive $1,000 cash and a new pair of skis or a snowboard. Additional prizes will go to top finishers in the 15-and-under, 60-and-over, and best dressed categories.
Registration costs $10 per competitor. All proceeds will be donated to the Mt. Holly Conservation Trust, with the Killington Giving Fund matching the total donation.
Check-in opens at 7:00am at the Superstar Umbrella Bar Deck, with a competitor meeting at 8:00am at the Superstar Lift. Final vert reports are due between 2:00 and 4:30pm and the awards ceremony takes place at 5:00pm back at the Umbrella Bar Deck.
Killington intends to stay open as late into the spring as they possibly can, running skiing and snowboarding off the Superstar Six lift. Currently 7 trails are open to skiers and snowboarders.
